Our post elopement party: Tips for holding a reception after eloping

Our post elopement party: Tips for holding a reception after eloping

As many of you know, we eloped last year. It was perfect in its own way, but not being able to celebrate our wedding with our families bothered us.  We were saving up for a wedding in the States, but eloping threw off some of this.

Our elopement was small, intimate, and romantic, however I knew that I still wanted to have a proper reception and a ceremony despite eloping. I’ll include some lessons learned from our post-elopement party, which was planned from abroad.

Expat life in Amsterdam: What it’s like to live in Amsterdam

Expat life in Amsterdam: What it’s like to live in Amsterdam

It’s been about three and half years since I moved to the Netherlands and until this time last year, I lived in Amsterdam.  I’d like to think that this has given me a bit of perspective on what is unique about living in Amsterdam and what is more typical for the rest of the Netherlands.  I came into this process fairly blind, so I hope that this can help others determine if living in Amsterdam is the right decision for them. I say this as someone who is a little less biased than the average Amsterdammer.

Catspotting: A crazy cat lover’s guide to cats in Amsterdam

Catspotting: A crazy cat lover’s guide to cats in Amsterdam

love cats.  This is a detailed guide to my beloved Amsterdam with the best places to meet cats in Amsterdam, officially and unofficially, with my favorite cats.  If you’re a fan of Catspotting, you’re going to love this guide to Amsterdam.

I’m a crazy cat lady and meeting cats when traveling is one of my favorite hobbies.  While living in Amsterdam, my husband and I hunted down the locations of cats in Amsterdam because we are that cat crazy.  We found cats living at one of the cat cafes in Amsterdam, roaming the halls of a historic canal house/cat museum filled with cat art, cozying up to potential owners on de Poezenboot (the Catboat), sleeping in various shops, or even breaking into museum gardens. This also includes coffeeshops with cats…. That said, I was not successful in petting them all.  Keep reading for our favorite cat locations in Amsterdam with a map.
