NYC on a Budget - Affordable Adventures in the Big AppleNew York is known for its extravagant traveling experience but one thing that’s often talked about time and time is how expensive it is to travel to and around New York. While it is true to an extent, planning enables to you work around the expenses.

One tip is to get luggage storage New York where you can drop your luggage and then explore the city without any extra baggage. Having this also ensures that you won’t need to worry about a hotel if you don’t want to.

Explore free activities

Being in New York doesn’t mean you have to empty your pocket exploring the high-end and expensive places. There are quite a few different activities in the city that you get to explore without spending a penny on them.

Central Park

The most popular free activity that you get to indulge in while in New York is exploring Central Park. You can rent a bike, have a picnic on the Great Lawn, explore the Belvedere Castle, or simply wander the scenic trails.

Free admission museums

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is walk into the museums that offer free admission like the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Friday evenings, the Museum of Modern Art on MoMA Mondays, or the American Museum of Natural History on pay-what-you-wish Tuesdays.

Staten Island ferry

Another fun yet free activity that you can indulge in is getting to enjoy the stunning views of the Statue of Liberty while you are on a ferry. If you don’t have the budget for paid harbor cruises, this is a pretty amazing alternative.

Bryant Park

New York has a lot of parks for you to explore and Bryant Park is another worth checking out. It is located in midtown Manhattan where you can enjoy a free movie during the summer months, participate in a yoga class, or simply enjoy a game of chess under the shade of the trees.

Budget-friendly accommodation

Given the popularity of New York as an expensive spot, you will find that budget-friendly accommodation is not a choice, especially when it comes to hotels. Instead, look for:

  • Hostels and guest houses offer a budget-friendly, social, and fun alternative to otherwise expensive hotels.
  • If you are traveling in a group and can afford to spend a bit more luxuriously, Airbnb is another option to explore.
  • For the truly adventurous, Couchsurfing platforms connect you with locals willing to offer a free place to stay on their couch.

Even while exploring NYC on a budget, you can still uncover the ultimate stay by choosing from the best Manhattan hotels that offer both comfort and affordability.

Conclusion

Traveling across New York doesn’t have to dig a bone in your account if you plan things well. The key is to find places and experiences that are well within your budget and will enable you to soak in the beauty of the place without running you down. Also, try and hit the local street food carts for cheaper deals on your food and you can never forget about the $1 pizza slices.
